Cody's First Bit of Laughter

3 Months!

Cody is growing and changing so much! We are loving his little giggles! He has started reaching for things and puts them directly to his mouth! He has noticed his hands and looks at them all the time....or puts them in his mouth. He still eats 5 ounces every 3 hours (except at night). He is very alert! He notices when we are fixing his bottle and kicks his legs and smiles in excitement. He is constantly moving. When he's playing on his back he does what Jason calls his "happy dance". His arms and legs are moving in rapidly. He smiles all the time. He fusses when he's tired or hungry and whines when he needs a diaper change. He'll sit in our laps and observe everything that's going on. He loves looking at the TV and watching the colors. He rolls from his tummy to his back all the time and we are working on getting him to roll from his back to his tummy. He wakes up once a night to eat but goes back down easily. He likes the car better than he did...thanks to a few toys that strap to the carseats. He's a trooper and will go happily in and out of stores as we run errands together as a family. He wears 3- 6 month clothes and size 1 diapers. He had his first little cold that lasted about 2 days and was super snuggly when he didn't feel very good. He loves to "talk" and coos all the time....we loving hearing all his little sounds. We love this baby so much and count our blessings every day that he is a part of our family.

Cody's Cabin

Here is Cody's Nursery...it's a cabin theme! We love how it turned out! We wanted a room that would grow with him so his nursery is not baby-ish but more little boy! Our friend Ellaine made the bedding and the curtains! She did an amazing job and far exceded our expectations! The crib will convert to a toddler bed and then to a full size bed. Ellaine made the crib skirt to fit the full size bed and made a little comforter as well....so hopefully we won't have to buy too much as he grows!
Jason painted and distressed these letters and we hung them with twine. His name is above his bed.

This little sign hangs above his door.

The curtains

Instead of buying a glider we just used one of our Crackle Barrel rockers!

The Closet

The crib!

More "cabin" decorations and the mini hat and vest like Jason's.The dresser that we use for a changing table. This canvas hangs about the dresser. It's actually a picture Jason took fo the Grand Tetons and we had it blown up to a canvas. The trashcan! The blanket that Jason's mom made for Cody!

The Collection of "forest animals" on top of his bookshelf. His Bookshelf!
View of the room from doorway (crib is on the right).

Outside Fun

I spent the morning hanging outside with my friends Mary and Jennie and their kids. Cody enjoyed watching the "big" kids play. He wore his swimsuit and sunglasses and looked so cute! Mary has a fun backyard (and toy room) for kids and someday soon he'll be running around and getting to play too. But for now he just hung out in either my lap, the bumbo or the swing!

1st Babysitter + Happy Baby = Great Date Night

Jason and I left Cody with his first babysitter last weekend and went on a date! We've left him before but only with my mom or very close family friends so this was the first time to leave him with a student! Sarah starts college at UTD this fall and we love having her around. It's a good thing they hit is off because Sarah is going to be Cody's sitter while I go to work on Tuesdays and Thursdays! She is a GREAT babysitter and in very high demand around town! I know Cody is in great hands with her and there are pictures to prove it! Sarah took the first two while we were gone!

Sarah came and spent the afternoon with me earlier this summer....she was dying to get her hands on Cody and since we have a rule that he can't be passed around at church she came to our house to get some one on one bonding with him!

Our Special Friends

Good-byes are never easy and this one is especially hard for me. Jason and I have spent a lot of time with Mark and Priscilla (and their 3 children) over the last 6 years! They are two of the wisest people we know and we respect both of them deeply. We jump at any opportunity to hang out with them. We've had many double dates and spent many nights at their home playing cards, sharing a meal, having dessert, talking and laughing. Jason always enjoys time that he gets to spend with Mark talking about ministry. Priscilla and I have spent many hours talking about life and I always leave feeling so special after spending time with her. We share the same love language...quality time! We have laughed together and cried together and prayed for each other. It's a friendship that I treasure and hold very close to my heart. I will miss the face to face talks but know she will just be a phone call away! Mark and Priscilla will now be living in Denver, Colorado! Mark has been there for over a month and Priscilla has been back and forth taking care of things before she moves up there permanently. Mark is the new President of Denver Seminary and we are so proud of him! Although we will miss having them close by we love that they are living in a place that we LOVE to visit! We will definately be making trips to see them. Any excuse to get Jason to the mountains! Mark officiated our wedding and the next 4 pictures are from that day! We were honored to have them be such a big part of our wedding and continue to be a part of our marriage!
They came to the hospital to visit Cody! This was a special moment for us and couldn't wait for them to meet our son. I had a really hard time emotionally and physically with my c-section and the minute Priscilla walked in the room and gave me a hug I started to cry. She and I had many talks on childbirth and she knew all my dreams and excitement for that day. When things didn't go as planned she knew my disappointments without me even having to say anything. I'll never forget that special moment with her while I lay in the hospital bed and she sat and talked to me.
This was a special day that Priscilla came over and we sat on my couch and talked about life and she got to see Cody. I love this picture of them together. Cody slept in the same cradle that Mark and Priscilla used for their 3rd child, Christian. Ellaine made the bedding for it! It was special that we were able to use this. Here we are at their daughter, Bonnie's wedding! Bonnie is a very special person to me as well! She and her new hubby live close to us and so I'm glad I'll still get to see her.
We love you guys so much and will be making a trip to Denver to see you very soon!! Thank you for investing in our lives and supporting us in all the ways that you do!

Cody loves bathtime!

Cody loves to take a bath! He won't take his eyes off of me while laying on his raft and smiles the whole time. It's the cutest thing! He loves to have water run over his head and poured on his body. Sometimes I'll let him lay there and enjoy it for a good 15 minutes or more. I can't wait until he's able to really splash and play. Today he was exceptionally cute when I was drying him off. My camera was not close by so I took these with my phone. He's such a happy baby...most of the time! :)
