Grandpa, Grandma and Mema Vist

Cody's grandparents and great-grandmother came to visit him (from Oregon) for his 1st birthday! We had a great time with them and were really glad they were able to make it to the party. Cody and Mema Grandma and Grandpa with Cody
I love his crazy hair in this picture!
We spent one afternoon at the park and Cody wanted Granpa's hat so bad and had fun with the challenge of getting it off!
He was definately spoiled with attention (and gifts) while they were here!

Cody's 1st Birthday Party

We had a little birthday party at our house to celebrate Cody's 1st birthday! We were excited to have Grandpa, Grandma and Mema come visit from Oregon. Aunt Kristin and cousin Parker come up from Austin. Along with Bubbie and a few families that have watched Cody grow up through his first year! It was a fun morning! Here's the Birthday Boy having a snack before guest arrived! Hard to believe our little boy is ONE! Jason and I made the cake! It was a fun project to make together! I made this birthday banner which ended up being the color theme for the party! The decorations.... Singing Happy Birthday! He loved it...definately liked the attention! Time to dig in! Cody and Grandpa Joy and Cody Opening Presents Examining the big box...what is it? A Pendleton rocking horse from Grandpa and Grandma! Cousins! My nephew eating his toes. Cody took a nap after the party and when he woke up we had his toys all set out ready to play. Enjoying a conversation with Mema. Cody was spoiled (blessed) with many fun gifts and lots of love on his birthday! He has enjoyed his sand/water table and toys from Bubbie, blocks from Aunt Kristin, books, toys and clothes from all his friends! He is a special little boy and loves to be around people. We love you, Cody!

Fun in the Sun!

We have a fun splash park behind our house and enjoyed a Sunday evening there will our friends the Balls and Wilborns. Thanks to Sean for taking these pictures! Cody loves the water and doesn't mind getting splashed in the face! Although he wants to be a "big kid" so bad...he loves watching them run and play and tries to keep up with them crawling!

Cody is 12 Months - Wow!

Yay! We made it to one year! Hard to believe that Cody is one! He is such a toddler now and we are having so much fun with him! We love to take him on adventures and show/teach him things! He is hilarious and definately keeps us laughing. He loves to say "mmmm" while he's eating. My mom taught him to do that and he now does it all the time. Yesterday he did it in the grocery store when I was on the baby isle buying some things. It was as if to say "mmmm, buy that mommy". He eats well and we are always trying new things with him. He loves fruit...grapes, blueberries, watermelon, bananas, peaches, strawberries and pears are his favorite. He continues to like the same foods as before but now we can add peanut butter and eggs to that list. It takes him a couple times to decide if he really likes something but once he figures out its good he'll eat it up. He's also getting used to textures. I still give him a few things in the jarred food for variety while he's still getting used to meats. He loves vegetables from the jars as well but is still getting used to the textures of the "real thing". He has 3 meals a day and 2 snack times. He likes to sit in his high chair for both meals and snacks. Cody mastered the stairs on his birthday! He still likes to play on them from time to time but not too interested in them. We haven't put up a gate on the stairs, we just block it when necessary but for the most part he doesn't beg to play on them. Cody pulls up on everything and can stand holding onto something with one hand. He knows how to sit on his bottom to get down and doesn't lose his balance very much anymore. He plays with his toys and still loves anything that is loud and makes noise (like bouncing a small plastic ball on the tile). He pushes his cars/trucks around and likes to watch the wheels turn. He makes all sorts of noises with his mouth while he's playing. He absolutely LOVE cups and anything he can stack inside each other. This entertains him for long periods of time. When we go out to eat we have to bring him his own cup or ask for a cup because he begs for ours the whole time. As long as he has a cup he'll sit and let us eat. Cody will put his arm out and reach for anything he thinks he wants...whether it's possible to get or not (like a ceiling fan or car). He knows how to point when he sees something. He knows how to give a "high 5" but doesn't always do it when asked. He can wave hi/bye. He says momma, dada, ba (for bye we think). He copies any noise we make...coughs, sneezes, clicks with our tongue or lips or noises with our voice. He listens and then tries to copy us. Cody is wearing 12 month clothes and size 4 diaper. He weighs 20 pounds (20%) He is 29 1/2 inches tall (50%) His head is 18.7 inches (90%)
He sleeps all night and takes 2 naps during the day.
Cody is a very sweet boy with a definate opinion of what he wants/needs. He will cuddle for very short periods but otherwise he is busy busy busy!
This first year flew by so quickly! We love being Cody's mommy and daddy and can't wait to see what memories his 2nd year holds.
